Toys are inseparable part of children's memory in any culture and at any point of history. In this painting, I portray toys gathered from every corner of Singapore, some directly purchased from second hand shops and some contributed by friends. Putting together, they represent the collective memory of a generation. Among all the toys, only Pikachu is my belonging, a toy which I bought for my sister when she was a baby. The black and white tone represents my fading past that has been discarded and replaced by the daily chores of adult life. The fresh color of Pikachu, on the other hand, symbolizes the memory of my sister's childhood, of which I adamantly cling to. In my well of thoughts, I always search the memory of her childhood, just like searching for that Pikachu among piles of other toys.
